Allow 20 mins prep time and 30 - 40 mins cooking time
For the crumble:
300g of plain flourCube 200g of unsalted butter at room temperature175g unrefined brown sugarUse some additional butter to grease the tin
Filling:
450g of Bramley apples. Peel these and cut into small bits1 pinch of ground cinnamon50g unrefined brown sugar1 tablespoon of plain flour
Pre- heat your oven to Gas 4/180C/350F
Making the Crumble:
Put the flour and sugar in a large bowl and mix well. Pop a couple of cubes of butter into the mix at a time – keep kneading and rubbing together until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
Making the Filling:
Place the cubed Bramley Apples in a bowl and sprinkle over the cinnamon, sugar and flour. Make sure all the fruit is covered by stirring the mixture Grease (using butter) an ovenproof dish (Aprox 24cm), spoon the mixture into the bottom of the dish, then sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top.
Bake in the oven for approximately 45 minutes until the layer of crumble has browned and the apples are bubbling. Just add custard or ice cream
